If you are looking for a recipe for really great seasoning with no sodium, try this everything bagel seasoning mix. It is fast, easy, and versatile.
I first tried this everything bagel seasoning several months ago, and have continued to use it regularly. It is great on roasted vegetables and potatoes. Or you can whip up a bagel dip and eat it with low sodium crackers or chips. Of course, our favorite way to use it is on bagels. And speaking of bagels, I am considering this recipe to be the first of a three part bagel series. I have two (yes two!) bagel recipes queued up, but I can’t share those without first sharing everything bagel seasoning, can I? UPDATE: Check out the recipe I have posted for Homemade Bagels and for 30-Minute Bagels. They won’t disappoint!
I was planning on retesting the second bagel recipe with two different kinds of flour this lovely Sunday morning, but that wasn’t in the cards. Last night the heating element in our oven went out while I was trying to roast some green beans. (Insert serious sad face here.) I tried to explain to Joe that a broken oven is an emergency for me, but I am not sure he gets it. I use it every.single.day. Sigh… I guess I will use it as an excuse to relax a little bit on my day off and try to treat it as a bit of good luck. Working in the kitchen all weekend does not make for a very good start on Monday.
And with that, let’s get right into the recipe. It is super duper easy and fast. I guess the only “tip” I would give you is to say that the fennel is a personal preference. I love it in there and so does Joe, so that’s that. If you aren’t a fan of fennel, just take it out; it will still have that classic everything bagel flavor without it.
