If you are missing a all those salty game day appetizers that used to get you through football season, look no further. This recipe for low sodium beef sliders is easy, delicious, and will satisfy your game day cravings.
I am one of those people who loves cooking little odds and ends on Sundays, especially when there’s a game on. Lucky for me, Joe likes snacking on the little odds and ends that I make. Since King’s Hawaiian rolls are fairly low in sodium (the original dinner rolls have 80 mg sodium per roll), they make the perfect base for these sliders. Filled with beef, onion, spinach, mushrooms, and cheese, this recipe will create super satisfying comfort food.

PrintGame Day Beef Sliders
SODIUM COUNT: 133.7 per slider; 1604 mg in the entire recipe
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 12 sliders 1x
Ingredients
Sliders:
- 1 package Original Hawaiian Sweet 12 Pack Dinner Rolls
- 1 pound lean ground beef*
- ½ tsp rubbed sage
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper
- 8 ounces mushrooms ((diced))
- ½ cup onion ((diced))
- 3 cups spinach ((chopped))
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese**
Topping:
- 1 Tbsp butter ((melted))
- ¾ tsp dried onion
- ¼ tsp dried garlic
- ½ tsp poppy seed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Combine the ground beef, sage, garlic powder, onion powder, and crushed red pepper in large skillet over medium heat. Cook until the beef is nearly cooked though. Add the chopped mushrooms and onions to the pan and continue cooking until the onions, mushrooms, and beef are cooked through. Add the spinach to the pan and cook for another minute or two, until the spinach has just wilted. Remove from heat and stir in the mozzarella.
- Line a baking sheet with a large sheet of tin foil. (You will wrap the sliders in the tin foil, so make sure it is a long enough sheet to enclose them.) Cut the Hawaiian rolls open and place the bottom half of the rolls onto the tin foil. Evenly spread the meat across the bottom half of the buns and put the top of the rolls on top of the meat.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, dried onion, dried garlic, and poppy seeds. Spread the mixture on top of the rolls. Close the tin foil over the rolls and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove the rolls from the oven and carefully pull back the tin foil so that the tops of the rolls are exposed. Put the rolls back in the oven and bake for five more minutes, or until the tops have browned.
- Remove the sliders from the oven and enjoy!

I tried this tonight, and I am throwing out my old slider recipe! My family thought they were just as good as the ones with 4x as much butter (and they were actually a lot easier to bake). Now I dont have to feel guilty cooking one of our favorite meals!

Fantastic! Made this over the weekend and was enjoyable for the entire family. I did go light on spinach (1c) per a request by hubby.
